Dance for Musical Theater

Classes are designed for musical theater and consist of a jazz class and at least one the following subjects:  Tap, and/or Musical Theater. Offered for Grades 4-7 and 8-12. Classes are offered by the semester: Sep- Dec and Jan-May.

Attire:

Attire: Comfortable, moveable clothing, hair secured off face.

Shoes:  black split-sole jazz shoes. Tap shoes recommended.

No dance experience necessary.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

ELIZABETH FOWLE, BALLET MASTER

ELIZABETH FOWLE is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts with a BFA in Contemporary Dance focusing on contemporary, ballet, and composition. Elizabeth has a diverse training background in ballet, pointe, partnering, and contemporary, ballroom, jazz, hip hop, musical theater, and tap.

For the past eight years, Elizabeth has served as Ballet Master for the Winston-Salem Festival Ballet restaging works and rehearing repertoire created by the Artistic Director Gary Taylor. She also serves as Ballet Master for the pre-professional companies High Point Ballet and Gary Taylor Dance. There in addition to serving as faculty, she restages a full Nutcracker every year and a Spring Concert.

Elizabeth has been on faculty as the dance instructor and musical theatre choreographer in the Drama School at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts summer session, the movement instructor for the AJ Fletcher Opera Institute, and as taught master classes in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and Moore County area high schools. As a choreographer, she was set musicals for Pinecrest Players and Imagine Youth Theatre and provided choreography for the Camel City Jazz Orchestra and Sandhills Repertory Theatre, in addition to serving as dance captain, assistant choreographer, and choreographer for various Piedmont Opera productions.

In conjunction with her work as a Ballet Master, dance instructor, and choreographer, Elizabeth has pursued a performing career as a company member with Winston-Salem Festival Ballet, appearing as a guest artist with High Point Ballet and Gary Taylor Dance, and performing in productions with Piedmont Opera, Camel City Jazz Orchestra, and Sandhills Repertory Theatre.
