Jean Valjean is the hero of the show.
Javert
Javert is the inspector who serves as antagonist to Jean Valjean.

The Chain Gang consists of Jean Valjean’s fellow prisoners.

The Bishop is a good man who saves Valjean’s soul through showing compassion.

Fantine is the beautiful, young girl who, abandoned by her lover, is left to fend for herself and her daughter, Cosette.

AUDITION PREPARATION
Prior to the audition:

ARRIVE PROMPTLY on the day of your audition and plan to be present throughout the audition time frame.
ACTING – READ
The Director will have scripts excerpts for you at the audition and you will be doing a cold read from the show.
CHOREOGRAPHY – DANCE
Please come prepared to move and have fun. If you have jazz shoes, wear them, otherwise socks or sneakers are acceptable.
VOCAL
Prepare One Minute of Music: Select a one-minute excerpt from a musical theatre song that best highlights your vocal range, acting skills, and unique personality. This should be a piece that you feel confident and comfortable performing. Make sure your chosen excerpt captivates the essence of the character you envision yourself portraying.
There is no wifi available, so be sure to download whatever backing track you’d like to use; we will have the appropriate adaptors for your phone, tablet, or computer. Please no acapella singing.

Actors will be asked to sing through a few warm-ups as well.
FIRST TIME AUDITIONING?
Don’t worry or let that stand in your way!
Don’t think you can sing? Sing “Happy Birthday.”
Don’t think you can act? Tell us something interesting about yourself in 30 seconds.
Don’t think you can dance? No worries, most of the kids auditioning aren’t “dancers.” Have fun and show us you can move.
You CAN do it! – and remember, everyone is cast!
