Hello, I am Rita Taylor,

Founder and Executive Director, Gary Taylor Dance and Imagine Youth Theater

As the 2024-2025 season gets under way, I wanted to take this opportunity to reach out to you to share some great highlights, new relationships and great performances in the works!  Our upcoming season is marked by exceptional opportunities for our dancers and actors. Please take a moment to read on.

We continue to be especially proud of the confidence that our community shows in our work by providing support and resources to ensure each seasonโ€™s success. – Rita

PERFORMANCE PARTNERSHIPS

Gary Taylor Dance performs at SCCโ€™s Bradshaw Performing Arts Center and Imagine Youth Theater remains the Youth Theater in Residence.  We have also been a partner with the Village of Pinehurst since 2020.  With this season, the organization is very excited to announce a new relationship with Southern Pines Land and Housing Trust for performance venue for Imagine Youth Theater, Jr.  Celebrating nearly two decades as a long standing, highly recognized icon of the performing arts community, Gary Taylor Dance specializes in diversified training and performance opportunities with students going on to conservatories and noted universities such as UNCSA, Point Park, SUNY Purchase, Rutgers, and Elon to name a few.

NEW FACES

We are also pleased to announce fabulous additions to faculty and staff.

LINDSEY ALLEN, Having joined us in the spring, Lindsey Allen starts her full season as Managing Director of Imagine Youth Theater. She has an extensive background in Music Performance (BFA:  UNCSA, Masters and Performers Diploma at the Indiana University โ€“ Jacobs School of Music.) and is dedicated to having every performer attain his or her highest degree of performance in every workshop role!

RYAN TAYLOR, (UNCSA โ€“ Contemporary Dance), has been guest artist and a guest dance faculty member for several years and is joining us full time this season for instruction and performance.

LYNNAE BENTON joins the staff as communication coordinator and she may be seen Mon-Thu in the lobby area to answer or obtain answers to all your programming questions.

DANCE

This performance season preparation is well under way. Under the guidance and vision of master story teller, award-winning Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer, Gary Taylor, our most involved production of the season, THE NUTCRACKER, returns to BPACโ€™S Owens Auditorium Thanksgiving weekend for the 14th season in the Sandhills!  A family favorite during the holidays, each production is intentionally unique with new cast members, choreography, and costuming to delight returning audience members and this season is no exception.   Juneโ€™s production of CIRQUE DREAMS & ILLUSIONS put the diversity of the dance program front and center and challenged both dancer and audience members to explore new heights in performance.

IMAGINE YOUTH THEATER

This past IYT season also challenged the actors with the diversity of workshops and productions.  From SWEENEY TODD to CHICAGO and from FINDING NEMO, JR to ALADDIN, JR. our students grew both personally and in performance.  Under the direction of Collin Conway, award winning director, Kim Fielder-Jones, and managing director/music director, Lindsey Allen, the variety of workshops continues to entice IYT seasoned performers to return production after production along with new faces looking to explore the opportunities offered through the program.

BE A PART

These opportunities donโ€™t just benefit our young people, they help our actors and dancers create amazing performance experiences for our whole community…and you and your business can be part of that!  I am reaching out to you as production costs continue to escalate, to ask for your help in making our 2024-25 season happen through performance sponsorship. We offer several levels of giving that will not only support young artists and performance events but will highlight your support within the local arts community. .

I look forward to hearing from you and learning how we can partner in the coming season.
