LEADING PLAYER (Role may be split)
The ultimate “ringleader.” Masterfully charming and manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through his own story and tries to intervene at the end. Excellent dancer. Obsessed with putting on a great show for the audience.

PIPPIN
Our story’s young and confused protagonist. He is longing to find his purpose in life. Naive, innocent, and discontented.
Gender: Male
Age: 18 to 21

CHARLES
Pippin’s demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride.

Age: 50 to 60

LEWIS
Pippin’s half-brother.

FASTRADA
Pippin’s conniving stepmother. A seductress, who is no stranger to deceit and betrayal, she is both sexy and smart. Skilled at using her sexual appeal to benefit her and her son.

Age: 35 to 45

BERTHE
Pippin’s saucy grandmother. A brassy broad full of wisdom, grace, and sass. She tries to help Pippin and encourages him to live his life to the fullest.

CATHERINE
A widow and mother. She is a beautiful and a hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance. Encounters Pippin at his lowest point and eventually falls in love with him.

THEO
Catherine’s son.
Gender: Male
Age: 6 to 10

VOCAL AUDITION

Please come ready to perform 16-32 bars of a song of your choice. It should not be from
Pippin and should be up-tempo. You must use a backing track. Please bring your
accompaniment downloaded on your phone or other device and cued up, ready to play.

Do not use up your audition time prepping your music and do no rely on IYT’s internet because it will not be available to you.

AUDITION CHOREOGRAPHY WILL NOT BE TAUGHT DURING THE AUDITION. All actors must learn the choreography prior to audition.


FIRST TIME AUDITIONING?

Don’t worry or let that stand in your way!

Don’t think you can sing? Sing “Happy Birthday.”

Don’t think you can act? Tell us something interesting about yourself in 30 seconds.

Don’t think you can dance? No worries, most of the kids auditioning aren’t “dancers.” Have fun and show us you can move.

You CAN do it! – and remember, everyone is cast!
